Boy, oh Boy, oh Boy!
Call us stunned, dazed and confused; call us gobsmacked; call us totally unprepared.
We learned yesterday that a male heir will make his place on our family tree some time in June, ending a 99-year reign of nothin'-but females born into my family. My darling granddaughter (despite her wish for a baby sister) will be joined in my heart by a darling grandson.
My generous daughter invited her sister and me to the unveiling, and amid the shock and awe we realized we aren't even familiar with masculine pronouns when discussing an expected baby! "He" and "his" and "him" do not trip lightly off our tongues. There will be many, many things to get used to.
If my darling granddaughter has taught me how to be a grandmother, my darling grandson (such a foreign word!) will teach me how to love and grow a little boy into a man. There will be many, many things to learn.
Amazed and blessed,
Jane Ann

What wonderful news! Felicitations! I am so very happy for you. May you enjoy the days discovering bugs and trucks with your grandson.
Sounds like a wonderful, new adventure for everyone.
My son was the first in 60 years. Boy did my parents have fun getting boy stuff. Now we are almost even in his generation.
Have fun. Buy lots of dinosaur fabric. If you need some, I can send it...
Rian and Sophie, I hear that grandmothers and grandsons can have very special affection, and I'm looking forward to all I will learn from him.
Jules, I knew the news would resonate with you, being the girly-girl of 3 girly-girls that you are! I knew your own boys were a whole new education for you too.
Thank you for your sweet sentiments. I'm still speechless (and you KNOW that's not like me).
Congratulations Jane Ann! You will discover just how little boys can work their way into your heart. I am seeing quilts made with cars, trucks, trains, dinosaurs...
What a wonderful blessing. Jen
All I know are boys! no little girls anywhere for me to interact with and when I have seen friend's girls, they always strike me as completely different creatures!
I love little boys! You are going to have such fun! Bravo!
