Dreaming of Denyse Schmidt Fabrics

Last night on the way home from work, I dashed into our local textiles shop for quarter-yards of tartan plaids. After not-so-tactfully commenting that I was "only buying a quarter-yard" of a short stack (I defended myself by confessing, "I am a quilter."), the co-owner asked me, "Do you know who Denyse Schmidt is?" (yes) and "Did you see her new fabric line that just came in?" (no). He assured me HE didn't care for quilts and didn't know who she was until a salesman had recommended her line. So he had checked her out, and I guess her quilts satisfied his sophisticated tastes. At any rate, he redeemed himself to me by showing me the whole group and some wonderful companion pieces.

I'm in love..... And counting down till Saturday when I can go back and lust at leisure. Ah, the possibilities.....

Make a point of seeing these beauties in person at your first opportunity, if you haven't already.

I saw them on the Quilters Buzz blog and have been wanting to see them in person ... you lucky girl!

There's no way the pictures do them justice. They are just wonderful--the colors! I'm going back and taking my camera.

What fun, yummilicious fabrics! The mind boggles!

So you're going back with your camera? Not your wallet!?!?

I can't wait to see what you do with them!

Rian, doncha know I had just sworn off stashing for a while only to meet Temptation head-on that day?! It's like visiting the animal shelter or the hospital nursery: DO NOT GO unless you intend to bring one home. So, yes, of course the damn wallet will go with me too!

And, Gemia, I may need a lawyer after I whip out my camera. Debra has influenced me to take it everywhere I go, and these photogenic phabrics just can't be passed up.

I love a lot of Kaffe Fassett fabrics too, but Rowan/Westminster must be difficult to deal with--The Dangerous Quilt Shop (the one piled to the rafters and definitely not earthquake proof) has been telling me for weeks they are getting them, but they can't get the rep/company to fill the order. (Maybe they're there and they just don't know it.)

What quirky prints! looks like fun! They are the kind of prints I am using for my New York Beauty quilt, which is waiting for me like dessert after all this "obligatory" quilting. How about a new baby boy quilt with some of it?
